Likewise, the Replicate ability, (while also mirroring the original Izzet mechanic in name and function) reflects the card’s ability to copy spells. In particular, the Research and Development ability is based on the Nivix Guildmagecard ability of “draw a card, then discard a card,” in that it allows the player to gain access to additional spells, and discard those that they didn’t find useful. Wizard Arcane Tradition: Nivix Guildmage (Download) I even managed to get a sketch of the colossus as it rose from the sand. It wasn’t long into my stay that I witnessed the final stage of the worm’s development. Apparently the locals could domesticate these beasts! It wasn’t until we reached out destination, a bustling city within a massive plateau that rose from the sands, that i learned about an interesting practice.

It disappeared under the sand in a writhing mass. I watched as some poor beast fell prey to a nest of these worms’ voracious young. She picked up on my interest rather quickly and took me to a little oasis not too far off our route.

We lost a few of our camels but came out unscathed for the most part. The juveniles hunt like wolves, circling their prey and taking turns lashing at them before sinking back into the swirling sands. My first encounter with them was travelling with my guide. Even the deserts aren’t safe from these monstrous worms! During my travels I found a relative to the all too well known purple worm, and boy was I in for a surprise.
